Fremantle construction.

Founded in 2004, Fremantle Constructions operated as one of Australia's most successful Infrastructure Specialists for almost two decades. As industry leaders, we have worked across many of the largest and most complex resource infrastructure projects that Australia has ever seen, including Pluto, Ichthys and, of course, Gorgon.

Throughout the company’s history, we delivered over 100 individual infrastructure projects across a diverse portfolio of clients and industries, whilst keeping our safety record to unprecedented low levels.

As industry leaders we built an outstanding reputation for quality and reliability, shown most notably in the consistent return of all of our clients, we had 100% return business. Our greatest asset at Fremantle Constructions was our relentless commitment to upholding a collaborative culture that valued integrity, quality and communication. Our success was a reflection of the ambition and loyalty upheld by our people, clients and partners; and a willingness to always go above and beyond to deliver exceptional results.

Over the years, we assisted the delivery of 5 out of the 10 largest infrastructure projects in Australia’s history. Carrying out over 9 million man hours, with a record incident rate below 3%, notably with no liquidated damages or legal proceedings.

The Role I played.

As the Managing Director of a leading construction company, John worked tirelessly to ensure Fremantle Constructions remained an agile, lean and scalable business that was able to meet the challenges of any project, any size, with both quality and speed. It was assured that this was done whilst not compromising on safety or quality.

John believes the people are the core of any business. At every level throughout his career, he has taken time to get to know his team, and been heavily involved in the work on the ground to truly understand his client’s projects and needs. At the end of the day, people respect what you inspect. His impeccable attention to detail has built strong relationships and trust with clients, and as a result, every single one has reengaged the company after working with them.

The broader team.

At Fremantle Constructions, we were extraordinarily proud of the fact that 90% of our leadership and management grew from within. This is a sign of a strong aligned company that rewards and respects its people and what they can achieve. Having such low staff turnover, and so many growing from within the company, allowed us to scale the business with a very clear and concise understanding of our people's strengths and weaknesses. We fostered a team environment based on respect and strength in solidarity rather than a dog eat dog, individual behaviour. One of the mantras we grew to love at Fremantle was ‘Hire for attitude train for skill’.
